Madrid police launch Cosmos Group to combat crime

The Cosmos Group, a pioneering joint unit composed of agents from the National Police and the Municipal Police of Madrid, has resulted in 600 arrests since its inception this summer. The unit was established to strengthen the prevention, investigation, and pursuit of crimes that cause significant public concern in the Spanish capital.

The group consists of 40 specialized agents and commanders selected for their expertise in areas such as public safety, property crimes, drug trafficking, and violent youth groups. The unit’s methodology relies on the continuous exchange of information and joint analysis of crime data to identify specific locations, times, and criminal patterns. This allows for the deployment of specialized resources to high-incidence areas to improve public security.
