Madrid prepares new science and urban planning regulations

The Community of Madrid is preparing a new legal framework to modernize its science, technology, and innovation system. This new law will replace the current regulations that have been in place since 1998. The update aims to address contemporary challenges such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and energy transition, while fostering better coordination between universities, businesses, and public administrations.

Simultaneously, the Madrid City Council has approved a proposal to undergo a public consultation regarding a new Municipal Urban Ordinance. This initiative seeks to consolidate various urban regulations, currently scattered across the General Urban Development Plan and several sectoral ordinances, into a single, unified text. The goal is to create a clearer, more adaptable regulatory framework that can respond to social, economic, and environmental changes. The consultation period is expected to last 15 days to gather input from citizens and professionals.
