Madrid promotes gastronomy in Lima through DeLiMadrid initiative

The Madrid City Council and the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima have launched ‘DeLiMadrid: un mundo de sabores’, a joint initiative designed to strengthen ties between the two capitals through their shared culinary heritage. The program includes an exhibition of Madrid’s gastronomic products and a series of activities held in the historic center of Lima.

The event featured a dinner attended by Peruvian Foreign Minister Carlos Espá, Lima Mayor Renzo Reggiardo, and representatives from the Spanish Embassy and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Peru. Almudena Maíllo, Madrid’s Delegate Councilor for Tourism, emphasized that gastronomy serves as a vital identity for the city, reflecting its history and the diverse contributions of those who have settled in the capital over centuries.

In a separate local development in Madrid, a technical report confirmed the ecological discovery of Charophyta algae in a naturalized wetland located in the Carabanchel district, specifically in the Vía Lusitana area, highlighting municipal efforts to recover urban biodiversity.
