Madrid promotes urban nature and heritage through guided tours
Madrid has been recognized as a World Tree City for the seventh consecutive year, highlighting the management and conservation of its urban greenery. To showcase this natural heritage, APIT Madrid (the Professional Association of Official Guides of the Community of Madrid) has launched a program of guided tours designed to connect the city's green spaces with its history, art, and urban development.
Sponsored by the Community of Madrid, these routes aim to decentralize urban tourism by exploring both iconic landmarks and lesser-known enclaves. One featured itinerary, the Madrid Río route, explores the Manzanares river corridor. This tour examines the area's urban transformation and historical significance, starting near the San Antonio de la Florida hermitage, which houses famous frescoes by Francisco de Goya.
