Madrid prosecutor seeks prison for woman accused of defrauding elderly father
The Madrid Prosecutor's Office is seeking an eighteen-month prison sentence for a woman accused of defrauding her 81-year-old father. The prosecution alleges the woman exploited her father, José Martín, while claiming to care for him during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the indictment, the woman moved her father from Madrid to Valdemoro in March 2020. While he was recovering from a respiratory infection and suffering from senile deterioration and malnutrition, she allegedly withdrew approximately 58,000 euros from his bank accounts through various transfers and cash withdrawals. The prosecution argues that his medical condition at the time left him without the capacity to make decisions regarding his own interests. The accused is scheduled to testify before the Audiencia Provincial de Madrid.
