Más Madrid identifies 280 irregular tourist apartments in Alcalá
The political group Más Madrid Alcalá has released a report identifying 280 tourist accommodations in Alcalá de Henares that do not comply with regional regulations. The findings include 216 full apartments or houses and 64 individual rooms.
The report highlights a significant growth in this sector, noting a 53% increase between 2023 and 2026. Data analysis reveals that 72.2% of these tourist properties are managed by professional operators or multi-landlords, while only 27.8% belong to small-scale owners with a single property.
Rosa Romero, spokesperson for Más Madrid Alcalá, criticized the current housing landscape, noting that for every residential rental listing available on Idealista, there are more than four tourist listings on Airbnb. The group is calling on the municipal government, led by the PP and Vox, to implement limits to address the impact on the local residential market.
