Madrid region funds drainage upgrade in Arroyomolinos and Metro track renewal

The Community of Madrid completed a drainage collector project in the municipality of Arroyomolinos, investing €609,729. The new 400‑mm‑diameter, 74.73‑metre conduit, built by Canal de Isabel II, replaces a historic pipe that impeded water flow, includes a pedestrian bridge and river‑bank stabilisation, and is co‑financed by the town council and EU Next Generation funds to lower flood risk.

The regional government also approved a €13.2 million programme to replace 163 km of Metro rail, purchasing 9,050 18‑metre rail bars and allocating an additional €3.2 million for rolling‑stock parts. The 15‑month works, carried out at night to avoid service disruption, aim to maintain safety and reliability for the network that carries around 715 million passenger trips each year.
