Doctor Peset Hospital opens modernized emergency department

The Valencian regional government has inaugurated the modernized emergency department at Doctor Peset Hospital following a 5.2 million euro investment. The project expands the area by 21 percent and includes 11 new medical consultation rooms covering specialties such as psychiatry, ophthalmology, and traumatology. The renovation, which was first requested in 1998, aims to improve urgent care for approximately 292,000 people in the health department.

Separately, the Girona Health Region is launching three pilot projects to implement a new integrated care model. These initiatives, designed to address population aging and chronic illness, aim to reduce service fragmentation by focusing on patient needs through integrated health areas (AIS). The projects include 24-hour home care and digital technology integration to better coordinate primary and hospital services.
