Madrid reports success for inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix

The inaugural Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix held on the Madrid urban circuit has concluded with organizers reporting significant economic and social impact. Madring released final attendance figures, stating that 352,618 spectators attended over the weekend, including 128,183 for the Sunday race. Approximately 80 percent of attendees, or 275,000 people, utilized public transportation, specifically the Metro and Cercanías systems.

José Vicente de los Mozos, President of the IFEMA Madrid Executive Committee, described the event as a “turbo” for the local economy, noting increased visibility and high demand for local restaurants and commerce. The event aimed to provide an experience beyond the track, featuring one of the largest fan zones in the world.

In addition to the economic boost, the event saw significant media engagement with 1.55 million viewers on free-to-air television and 288,000 social media mentions. Sustainability efforts included the donation of 9,184 kilograms of surplus food. Preparations for the 2027 race are already underway, with tickets scheduled to go on sale on September 29.
