Madrid researchers launch precision nutrition and therapy studies for aging

Researchers in Madrid are advancing precision nutrition and therapeutic strategies to combat aging associated with chronic kidney disease. The RENACE-CM project, led by the IMDEA Nutrition Institute and the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), integrates biomedicine, drug development, and precision nutrition to create personalized treatments.

The study aims to investigate molecular mechanisms linking kidney damage to accelerated aging, fibrosis, and sarcopenia, which is the loss of muscle mass and strength. By combining preclinical studies with patient data, the project explores how to prevent complications and preserve quality of life, accounting for factors such as fragility and gender differences.

In a related development, the technological center AZTI has established the NutriHealth Corner. This infrastructure is designed to evaluate nutritional and health biomarkers to study individual responses to diet. By combining molecular analysis with physiological measurements, the facility seeks to generate scientific evidence for personalized nutritional interventions aimed at promoting healthy aging.
