Madrid rolls out AI-driven PriorityCare system and unveils 2026‑28 primary‑care reform
The PriorityCare project, developed by Fundación Hospitalarias Madrid, won the first prize in the seventh edition of the BRING_IT innovation programme run by the Institut d’Investigació i Innovació Parc Taulí. The AI‑enabled system lets patients enter health information before reaching the emergency department, aiming to speed initial clinical assessment, improve resource use and lessen pressure on emergency services. Dr. María Jesús González, medical director of the foundation, said the award “is an important boost for our commitment to person‑centered innovation.”
Separately, the Community of Madrid announced the Primary Care Strategic Plan 2026‑2028 (PLANEAp), a person‑centred roadmap that addresses an ageing population, greater clinical complexity and digital transformation. Vice‑minister of Health Laura Gutiérrez described the plan as “not a catalogue of good intentions, but a solid roadmap to transform daily practice.” The plan targets over seven million residents, 15,836 health professionals, and includes measures on service accessibility, technology adoption, professional development and infrastructure modernization, building on more than 51 million primary‑care consultations recorded in 2025.
