Madrid starts Bus‑VAO pilot on A‑2 corridor to speed intercity buses
From 3 August, three intercity bus lines (223, 227 and 229) will use a dedicated Bus‑VAO lane on the A‑2 highway between Alcalá de Henares and Madrid. The pilot aims to cut travel times and assess the impact on punctuality in the Henares corridor.
At the same time, Metro de Madrid will carry out summer works that suspend service on Line 6 between Argüelles and Ciudad Universitaria after the Moncloa station closes from Saturday until 2 September. Line 7 will be interrupted between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis from Sunday until 28 August, as part of a €33 million signalling and track‑renewal project. Additional works affect lines 9B and 10, with a free special bus service (SE9) provided for affected passengers.
