Madrid to deploy 3,200 security agents for Ibero-American Summit

Spanish authorities have finalized a security plan for the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for November 4 and 5, 2026, in Madrid. The deployment will involve over 3,200 agents to ensure safety during the event.

The National Police will provide 1,800 officers, primarily from the Police Intervention Unit, to secure event locations and surrounding areas. The Civil Guard will contribute approximately 650 agents, focusing on airport arrivals at Barajas and Torrejón de Ardoz and transit security. Additionally, the Madrid Municipal Police will deploy about 800 officers.

To protect the airspace, the Ministry of Defense will provide cyberdefense and capabilities to counter unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The coordination meeting was led by Pilar Trinidad Núñez, the Government Sub-delegate in the Community of Madrid, and included representatives from various ministries, security agencies, and local transport and emergency services.
