Madrid to fund new Woody Allen film under specific conditions

Director Woody Allen is set to film a new project in Madrid, supported by significant public funding. To secure approximately 3 million euros from the regional government and the Madrid City Council, the film must adhere to specific promotional requirements, including featuring the word ‘Madrid’ in its title and filming at least 15 percent of its scenes in the city's exterior locations to showcase its architectural and historical beauty.

In addition to local subsidies, producers are seeking 4 million euros through tax incentives, grants from the Spanish film institute (ICAA), and the sale of first-window television rights. The total budget is estimated to be around 12 million euros, meaning producers must still secure an additional 5 to 6 million euros through international sales.

While there has been media speculation regarding the involvement of actors Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, official sources have not confirmed the cast or the specific plot. This project marks Allen's 51st feature film and his third production filmed in Spain.
