Madrid Grand Prix sold out as circuit readies for September F1 race

The Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid has officially reached technical sell‑out status, despite ongoing construction of key facilities such as the pits, grandstands and paddock. Event director Luis García Abad described the project as a "unicorn" that has become a reality, noting that the new Madríng circuit around IFEMA will host the race from 11‑13 September and that night‑time work is being carried out to complete the remaining infrastructure.

Ahead of the summer break, the Formula 1 calendar turns to the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Drivers discussed their prospects: Franco Colapinto highlighted his recent points finishes in Britain and Belgium and expressed pride in Argentina’s World Cup win, while also stating he has "no idea" about his Alpine contract for 2027. Fernando Alonso, driving for Aston Martin, cited a major upgrade package – a new chassis and aerodynamic package – expected to improve competitiveness at the Hungarian round. Carlos Sainz acknowledged a disappointing season with Williams and left his future with the team undecided. The weekend will also feature Formula 2 and Formula 3 support races, with Argentine drivers Nico Varrone and Mattia Colnaghi competing.

These developments illustrate both the logistical challenges of launching a new urban F1 venue in Madrid and the on‑track narratives shaping the mid‑season Hungarian event.
