Madrid urged to fix urgent maintenance problems in Parque Central de AZCA

On 24 July 2026, the Cuatro Caminos‑Tetuán neighbourhood association, the Regional Federation of Madrid Neighbourhood Associations (FRAVM) and the environmental group Ecologistas en Acción inspected the Parque Central de AZCA (also known as the Parque de Pablo Ruiz Picasso) in the Tetuán district of Madrid. They reported serious shortcomings in cleaning, a broken irrigation system that is causing water‑logging, and insufficient watering of the park’s vegetation.

The groups highlighted that 28 trees have become isolated behind a construction fence after a nearby building demolition and are at risk of dehydration. The park contains 367 trees representing 42 species, and the activists fear the neglect may be linked to a planned municipal reform of the green space. They have called on the Madrid City Council to urgently repair the irrigation network, improve cleaning operations and protect the isolated trees.
