Madrid's Global Mobility Call 2026 draws 5,000 professionals to advance sustainable transport

More than 5,000 professionals attended the fourth edition of the Global Mobility Call 2026 at IFEMA Madrid. The three‑day forum brought together public‑sector officials, major manufacturers, startups, investors and operators to turn mobility‑sustainability rhetoric into concrete agreements, pilots and business decisions. Organisers highlighted a new Global Mobility Commitment aimed at coordinating industry, regulation, financing, technology and citizen demand.

Key outcomes included a push for Spain to become a European hub for vehicle production, with a target of 5.5 million electric vehicles on the road by 2030 and an estimated €5‑8 billion annual investment in infrastructure and demand‑side measures. Participants stressed that growth in public‑transport ridership must rely on service offers rather than fare policies alone; as AVANZA Spain’s director Valentín Alonso Soroa warned, “Para conseguir ese incremento del 50% en viajeros va a ser imposible si no es a base de oferta…”.

Representatives from the Cáceres City Council also took part, exchanging best‑practice insights with peers from Alicante and Albacete on managing record urban bus usage and advancing sustainable, efficient public‑transport models.
