Madrid's MADRING F1 Circuit Advances Towards 2026 Spanish Grand Prix

Madrid officially inaugurated its new Formula 1 venue, the MADRING circuit, on 16 June 2026, marking a major milestone ahead of the first Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for September 2026. The 5.4‑km track layout has been finalized and the main asphalt layer laid, while construction continues on safety barriers, spectator stands for up to 98,000 fans, the VIP area and the large fan zone, which will be the biggest on the calendar.

The opening ceremony featured Formula 1 representatives, public officials, sponsors and driver‑ambassador Carlos Sainz, who completed an inaugural lap and unveiled his Team Fifty5 stand. A 54‑metre flag‑mast, one of the tallest on the F1 circuit roster, was raised, and the event showcased the trophy designed by Pininfarina. Operations director Carlos Jiménez expressed confidence, saying, “Nous serons dans les temps. Les parties les plus compliquées sont déjà terminées, donc je ne suis pas inquiet, même s’il ne faut pas relâcher le rythme.”

Simultaneously, consumer concerns have emerged over ticket resale scams.
