Madura fuel shortages cause long queues at gas stations
Long vehicle queues have formed at several gas stations across Madura, including Bangkalan and Pamekasan, due to fuel supply issues. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga attributed the queues to delivery adjustments and increased consumer demand. To address the shortage, the company is accelerating deliveries and adding mobile fuel tank trucks through a spot charter scheme to support distribution across East Java.
Local government officials in Pamekasan have offered a different perspective, noting potential delays in delivery orders and a decrease in bio-diesel allocations compared to the third quarter of 2026. While Pertamina maintains that Pertalite quotas have increased, local authorities highlighted concerns regarding administrative irregularities in the distribution of subsidized fuel.
In a separate enforcement action in Sampang, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga sanctioned two gas stations for one month, effective from October 25 to November 23, 2026. The stations were found to be selling subsidized Pertalite to customers using jerry cans without the required government recommendation letters.
