Madurai influencer flees home after receiving fraudulent COD orders

Veeramani, an Instagram influencer based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has reportedly fled his home following a series of fraudulent cash-on-delivery (COD) orders placed in his name. The incident began after the influencer, who has approximately 338,000 followers, shared his phone number and home address on social media in hopes of receiving Diwali sweets from his audience.

Instead of sweets, Veeramani was targeted by individuals who placed numerous high-value orders for electronics, including televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines. One reported television order was valued at approximately 1.69 lakh rupees. Reports indicate that as many as 15 orders arrived within a single thirty-minute window. Some social media claims even suggested an absurd order for a military tank valued at 70 crore rupees.

The influencer expressed significant distress through social media videos, noting that the constant influx of deliveries and phone calls was overwhelming. He also highlighted the plight of delivery agents who were forced to travel long distances for unpaid goods. Due to the escalating harassment, Veeramani reportedly left his residence and sought temporary refuge elsewhere to escape the situation.
