Madurantakam by-election: AIADMK and DMK leaders launch campaigns
Political campaigning is intensifying in the Madurantakam Assembly constituency ahead of the by-election scheduled for October 6. The election follows the resignation of former AIADMK legislator Maragatham Kumaravel, who joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami is set to undertake a two-day campaign on September 24 and 26, addressing rallies in Mamandur, Puthur, Devathur, Saravambakkam, L Endathur, Ramapuram, Elappakkam, and Orathi to support candidate K Kanitha Sampath.
DMK president M. K. Stalin is scheduled to campaign in the constituency on October 3. Other DMK leaders, including MP Kanimozhi and youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin, are also expected to participate in the campaign efforts. The election is expected to be a five-cornered contest involving the TVK, DMK, AIADMK, Naam Tamilar Katchi, and Communist parties.
A similar by-election will also be held in Dharapuram on the same date.
