Maduranthagam: CM Vijay pledges infrastructure funds amid political campaigning
Political activity has intensified in the Maduranthagam constituency, with leaders from opposing sides presenting different visions for the region's development and governance.
Chief Minister Vijay has pledged significant infrastructure improvements to address issues that have reportedly persisted for 75 years. His administration has announced approximately 100 crore rupees for projects including new buildings for the Maduranthagam Government Hospital, student hostels, and social justice hostels for women. Additionally, 10 crore rupees are allocated to convert irrigation canals into concrete structures. Vijay highlighted the need for better agricultural support, such as high-capacity warehouses and permanent procurement centers, to assist local farmers.
In contrast, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidates during a campaign rally. He claimed that local residents have begun rejecting TVK candidates and accused the current leadership of failing to address past crises and making false claims regarding political support. The campaign continues with various leaders conducting door-to-door and open-vehicle outreach to secure votes.
