Maehyang-ri Peace Memorial Hall named Hwaseong wellness tourism site
The Maehyang-ri Peace Memorial Hall has been selected as Hwaseong City’s first ‘Gyeonggi-style Wellness Tourism Site.’ This designation is part of a broader initiative in Gyeonggi Province, which saw seven new locations selected this year.
The memorial hall, which occupies a site used as a U.S. Air Force firing range for approximately 50 years, aims to transform its history of bombing and noise into a space for peace and recovery. Key wellness offerings include ‘sound walking’—which focuses on natural and everyday sounds—as well as yoga and singing bowl programs designed to aid mental and physical relaxation.
Hwaseong City plans to refine these programs through expert consulting from Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization. The goal is to further develop the site's unique historical and natural resources into a sophisticated wellness destination by 2027.
