Mafra man loses R$ 38,000 in cattle fraud

A 39-year-old man lost an estimated R$ 38,880 following a fraudulent cattle negotiation in the Avencal de Cima locality, in Mafra, northern Santa Catarina.

According to the victim, the suspect provided an R$ 88,000 check during the loading of the first 22 cattle, which was later deemed irregular by the bank. Despite suspicions, the victim allowed an additional 18 animals to be loaded after a promise of a R$ 16,000 payment. While the victim was eventually able to recover 31 of the 40 cattle, nine animals remain missing. The Military Police have registered a report, and the case is under investigation.
