Maférima Bamba Fouété's remains arrive in Abidjan

The remains of Dr. Maférima Bamba Fouété M’Bahia, the former Deputy Director General of Taxes and Mayor of Séguéla, arrived in Abidjan from Paris on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She passed away in Paris on September 18 following a long illness.

Dr. Bamba was a doctor of economics and a chartered accountant who served in high-level administrative roles before being elected Mayor of Séguéla in 2023. Her arrival at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport was met by family, friends, and colleagues.

A series of funeral ceremonies has been scheduled. Condolences will be received at her residence in Riviera 4 from September 28 to September 30. The body will be lifted on October 2 at IVOSEP Treichville, followed by religious services at the Grand Mosque of Riviera Golf. The burial is set to take place at the Abobo-Baoulé cemetery following Friday prayers.
