Magallanes health investments undergo budgetary review

Alicia Stipicic, a Punta Arenas councilwoman and president of the Municipal Council's Finance Commission, has clarified that there has been no formal cancellation of all planned health investments for the Magallanes region. Instead, projects are undergoing a budgetary review by the Ministry of Health.

Stipicic noted that Health Minister May Chomali indicated she cannot currently commit financing for upcoming years due to existing national delays and commitments. However, the Ministry is expected to provide a response within two weeks regarding which projects may be executed during the current administration. While some initiatives under the Extreme Zones Development Plan remain under consideration, their execution depends on sectoral planning and available resources. The region continues to seek certainty regarding infrastructure for mental health, geriatric care, rural clinics, and primary care strengthening.
