Magallanes hosts tourism and security seminar to prepare for summer season

The first Tourism and Security Seminar, titled ‘Preparing for the Summer Season’, was held in Punta Arenas to strengthen regional preparedness in Magallanes. The event brought together approximately 140 participants, including public institutions, private sector representatives, academia, and specialized agencies such as Sernatur, Senapred, and CONAF.

The seminar focused on improving public-private coordination to manage risks in natural areas and remote locations. Key topics included emergency management, forest fire prevention, epidemiological surveillance for diseases like hantavirus, and meteorological event preparedness. Discussions also addressed the necessity of specialized search and rescue operations in difficult-to-access territories, highlighting the role of the Cuerpo de Socorro Andino and the importance of early warning systems.
