Magallanes students to present clean energy projects in Colombia

Students from the Hidrogenios science group, an initiative from the Magallanes public education system supported by the NGO Nobeles Australes, are preparing for an international scientific tour to Colombia. The delegation, which includes Yuliana Mercado, Brayan Caballero, and Juan Camilo Valencia, will participate in the World Science Fair from November 9 to 14.

The students plan to present two primary innovation projects: the production of biofuel from salmon industry waste and a prototype vessel powered by green hydrogen. Their itinerary also includes technical internships at automotive assembly plants for Marcopolo, Toyota, and Sofasa, as well as protocol meetings at the Chilean and Colombian embassies.

Before departing, the students and their guide, Javier Garay, met with Rodrigo Sepúlveda, the executive director of the Magallanes Local Public Education Service (SLEP). During the meeting, Sepúlveda pledged support for scientific initiatives, including the “science bus,” a mobile classroom designed to bring scientific outreach to various regional schools.
