Magallanes students visit Pesca Chile krill‑catching vessel
The regional finance minister (Seremi) of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic, Manuel José Correa, organized a technical visit for high‑school students from Liceo San José (also referred to as Liceo Salesiano San José) aboard the krill‑catching ship Antarctic Endeavour, operated by Pesca Chile. The three third‑year students toured the vessel, observed the extraction of krill in southern seas, and learned about the subsequent processing into krill flour destined for Asian markets.
Officials highlighted that the trip was intended to link classroom finance theory with real‑world production, showcase the regulated nature of Chile’s krill industry, and motivate students to pursue further study. The seremi stressed the strategic importance of the krill sector for the Magallanes economy, while Pesca Chile’s operations manager, Rodrigo Mattson, underscored the company’s commitment to community outreach.
