Magaly Medina and Jefferson Farfán clash over extortion allegations

Journalist Magaly Medina and former footballer Jefferson Farfán are engaged in a legal and public dispute following allegations linking Farfán to extortion and kidnapping threats against Medina.

Farfán issued a statement condemning the threats against Medina while denying any involvement. He criticized Medina and her lawyer, Fernando Ugaz, for publicly labeling him as an ‘indirect perpetrator’ of the crimes without evidence. Farfán demanded an immediate, public, and free rectification, stating that his professional history as a footballer does not make him a criminal.

Medina has refused to retract her statements, asserting that her opinions are backed by evidence currently being evaluated by her legal team. She questioned Farfán’s conduct regarding his community service requirements and alleged that he has violated strict rules. Medina stated she has increased her security measures but has no intention of leaving Peru.
