Magaria prefect Lampo Yempabou Mahamadou dismissed

General Toumba Mohamed, the Minister of State for the Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration, has dismissed Lampo Yempabou Mahamadou from his position as prefect of the Magaria department in the Zinder region.

The decision was communicated via an urgent radio message on September 7, 2026. The directive instructs the governor of the Zinder region to appoint the prefect's secretary general to serve as interim head and to ensure an immediate handover of instructions.

While the official document does not specify the reasons for the dismissal, the move occurs amid heightened security vigilance in several departments within the Zinder region. No information has been released regarding a new assignment for the former prefect.
