Magasin reports data breach following cyberattack
The Danish department store Magasin has notified customers of a security breach after unauthorized individuals gained access to certain IT systems. The attack, which began on October 18, caused disruptions that forced some employees to perform tasks manually, though stores and the webshop remained open.
Magasin has informed its 'Goodie' members that hackers may have accessed personal information, including names, contact details, addresses, and purchase histories for both customers and employees. The company warned that this data could be used for phishing attempts. However, Magasin confirmed that credit card information was not compromised, as payment data is handled by an external provider and was not part of the affected systems.
Magasin CEO Peter Fabricius stated that the company is still working to determine the full extent of the incident. The breach has been reported to the police and the Danish Data Protection Agency.
