Magda Gessler discusses restaurant labor shortages and tipping

Polish restaurateur and television personality Magda Gessler has addressed ongoing challenges within the hospitality industry, specifically regarding labor shortages and tipping etiquette.

Gessler identified the lack of available staff as a primary issue for restaurant owners. She noted that restrictions on migrant workers contribute to these shortages, questioning why certain visa processes are not more accessible for workers from countries like Colombia, whom she described as good employees.

Regarding the debate over tipping, Gessler and Mateusz Gessler expressed support for the practice as a sign of good manners and proper service. Magda Gessler suggested that for tables of more than four people, it is appropriate to indicate a recommended 10 percent tip, noting that while tipping is a matter of etiquette, it is a tradition that has seen a decline in recent years.
