Magda Szubanski reveals incurable cancer diagnosis
Australian actress and comedian Magda Szubanski has revealed that while she is in remission from mantle cell lymphoma, her condition is considered an “incurable relapse.” In a wide-ranging interview with 60 Minutes, the 65-year-old explained that although the cancer is currently at bay, it is almost certain to return.
Szubanski, known for her role in Kath & Kim, shared that the median survival rate for her specific cancer is eight and a half years. She described the intense physical toll of her diagnosis and chemotherapy, noting that she experienced extreme fatigue and severe bone pain caused by inflamed bone marrow.
During the interview, Szubanski also addressed personal matters beyond her health, disclosing that she suffered sexual abuse during her childhood.
