Magdalena Andersson calls for green‑industry jobs and denounces right‑wing Thatcherism in Sweden

Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson warned that the Swedish right‑wing has become “stuck in Thatcher,” blaming it for rising unemployment and a sharp decline in support among LO members. She said the party’s vote share among union workers has fallen to just over one‑third and that the Sweden Democrats are gaining ground.

Andersson promoted the green industry as the engine for new jobs, arguing that massive investment in sustainable technologies could reverse the trend. She also defended the activity‑requirement scheme introduced under her premiership, insisting that citizens capable of work must participate in training or practice to retain welfare benefits.
