Magdalena Oršić wins women's category at Shield of the Homeland competition
Magdalena Oršić, a police officer from the Bjelovar-Bilogora County Intervention Unit, won the women's category at the ‘Shield of the Homeland Dubrovnik 2026’ competition. This marks her fourth victory in five appearances at the event.
Organized by the Ministry of the Interior, the eighth edition of the competition took place in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The event brought together Croatian police officers, Homeland War Special Police veterans, and police personnel from Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, and North Macedonia.
Participants faced a demanding 30-kilometer course starting in Buići and ending on Srđ. Competitors navigated the terrain using compasses and topographic maps while carrying approximately 10 kilograms of mandatory equipment and weaponry. The course included six specialized stations testing skills in weapon assembly and disassembly, infantry obstacles, pistol and rifle shooting, orientation, mountaineering, and tactical room entry.
In the men's category, Petar Volarević from the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police Department took first place. Among foreign police officers, David Pomer from Austria was the top performer, while Krunoslav Ivanušec won the Special Police veterans category.
