Magdalena Stysiak named captain of Polish women's volleyball team
Magdalena Stysiak has assumed the role of captain for the Polish women's national volleyball team during the European Championship. She takes over the position from libero Aleksandra Szczygłowska, who was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a health issue described as an infection.
Szczygłowska has returned to Poland to focus on her recovery. Despite the sudden change in leadership, the Polish team has maintained its momentum, progressing through the group stage and play-offs. The team is now preparing for a quarter-final match against the Netherlands.
Coach Stefano Lavarini praised Stysiak for her ability to provide sporting leadership and her international experience. Stysiak noted that while she previously had little interest in the off-court responsibilities associated with being captain, she is now focused on supporting her teammates both physically and mentally.
