Magdeburg plans temporary 50-meter pool in former courthouse

The city administration of Magdeburg is proposing a temporary solution to maintain swimming training facilities during the renovation of the Elbeschwimmhalle. The plan involves renting the former courthouse building at Jerichower Platz from November 2026 to June 2028.

The proposal includes installing a temporary 50-meter pool with eight lanes inside the building. The estimated cost for this interim solution is approximately 3.76 million euros, with the state of Saxony-Anhalt indicating potential funding of 700,000 euros. The Magdeburg City Council is expected to vote on the matter on August 27.
