Magdeburg to lay Stolpersteine for Jewish victims

On August 8, 2024, Magdeburg will hold a ceremony to lay Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) to commemorate Jewish victims of the Nazi era.

In Magdeburg's Altstadt, stones will be placed for religious teacher Rudolf Rosenberg, his wife Gerta, and their children Hans Meinhard and Horst Michael. Rosenberg, who taught in Magdeburg from 1930 to 1938, was arrested in 1938 and deported to Buchenwald. While the family eventually fled to the Netherlands and then the United States, several of Rosenberg's relatives were murdered by the Nazis. Family members from the US are expected to attend the ceremony.

Additionally, Stolpersteine will be laid in Magdeburg-Brückfeld for Ruchla Sieradzki and her daughter Senta.
