Magdeburg tram services to resume at Alter Markt on November 2

Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe (MVB) has announced that tram services are scheduled to resume through the northern section of Breiten Weg at Alter Markt starting November 2. The resumption includes the opening of the modernized central Alter Markt stop, which is expected to reduce the need for current detours and rail replacement services.

To ensure the project meets this deadline, construction hours are being expanded to include weekdays until 10:00 PM and work on Saturdays. The project experienced previous delays due to the discovery of archaeological findings, including a medieval well, 14th-century road remains, historical cellar vaults, and war debris, as well as challenging ground conditions that required specialized construction technologies.
