Magelang Mayor emphasizes social readiness for PAUD-SD transition

Magelang Mayor Damar Prasetyono has emphasized that preparing children for the transition from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to Elementary School (SD) requires more than just basic literacy and numeracy skills. During a socialization event held at Gedung Wanita, Prasetyono stated that children must also develop abilities in communication, social interaction, emotional management, and simple problem-solving.

This approach is part of the 13-year compulsory education policy promoted by the Magelang City Government. The Mayor noted that the transition should be viewed as a continuous process rather than a mere change in educational levels. He highlighted that a sense of security and comfort during learning is just as vital as academic readiness.

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable transition, Prasetyono called for increased synergy between PAUD and SD educators. Nurwiyono Slamet Nugroho, Head of the Magelang City Education and Culture Office, added that the initiative aims to align understanding among the government, educational institutions, families, and the community regarding the importance of the PAUD year preceding elementary school.
