Magelang Mayor urges fire safety vigilance in residential areas

Magelang Mayor Damar Prasetyono has urged residents to increase vigilance against residential fire risks, particularly in densely populated areas. Following a fire in Kampung Wates, the Mayor emphasized the importance of ensuring electrical installations, stoves, and household appliances are secure before leaving homes or sleeping.

Prasetyono noted that prolonged hot weather and human negligence, such as improper use of electrical sockets or smoking while sleeping, contribute to fire hazards. He called on local officials and community leaders to conduct educational outreach through neighborhood units to promote safer household habits.
