Magenta cemetery faces surge in copper thefts and vandalism
The Magenta cemetery is facing an escalation of thefts and vandalism, primarily targeting copper fixtures. In a recent incident, thieves caused the collapse of a large marble structure while attempting to steal copper elements, resulting in estimated material damages between 15,000 and 20,000 euros.
This event follows a similar incident one month ago where vandals attempted to break into an offering box and left a human skull on an altar. Local authorities note that organized groups are increasingly profaning memorial sites to steal copper, often causing structural damage that far exceeds the value of the stolen metal.
