MAGES. reveals prologue for upcoming occult game ‘Shikai’

MAGES. has released a prologue movie for its upcoming occult suspense adventure game, ‘Shikai’ (覗怪), scheduled for release this winter on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

The game is being developed by the same staff responsible for the ‘Science Adventure’ series, including titles such as ‘STEINS;GATE’ and ‘CHAOS;CHILD’. However, while those previous works focused on solving mysteries through logic and science, ‘Shikai’ shifts focus toward the realm of the supernatural and phenomena that science cannot explain.

The narrative is centered around a ghost story titled ‘The House with the Red Roof,’ which has been featured on MAGES.’ YouTube channel since 2024. The game’s concept involves the player becoming personally involved in the supernatural occurrences triggered by reading the ghost story. The opening theme song will be performed by Kanako Ito, a frequent collaborator on the Science Adventure series.
