Maggie Gyllenhaal wrote, directed and produced the 17‑minute short film "Flesh Impact," which imagines what iconic actress Marilyn Monroe might have created had she lived longer. The film features Dakota Johnson as a young Monroe and Oscar‑winner Ellen Burstyn as an older version of the star.
"Flesh Impact" will debut at the Venice Film Festival in September, timed to mark what would have been Monroe’s 100th birthday and to coincide with a lifetime‑achievement honor for Burstyn. Gyllenhaal will also serve as president of the festival’s Golden Lion jury.
