Maggie Malecha awarded 2026 College Hockey Inc. Scholarship

Maggie Malecha, a former goaltender for the University of St. Thomas, has been named the 2026 recipient of the annual College Hockey Inc. Scholarship, presented by JLG Architects. The $2,500 postgraduate scholarship is awarded to an NCAA men’s or women’s hockey student-athlete who demonstrates a commitment to growing the sport by supporting the next generation of players.

Malecha, a native of Northfield, Minnesota, played 21 career games for the Tommies between 2022 and 2026. During her tenure, she was a three-time WCHA All-Academic Team selection and a WCHA Scholar-Athlete.

In addition to her collegiate career, Malecha founded a summer youth hockey program in Northfield in 2024, which grew from 120 to 175 participants in its second year. Her program included scholarship opportunities to ensure affordability and accessibility. She also served as a goalie coach for both the boys’ and girls’ hockey programs at Northfield High School during the 2025-26 season. Malecha plans to pursue a master’s degree in education.
