Magic Kingdom’s ‘it’s a small world’ shows signs of deterioration

Visible maintenance and cleanliness issues have been documented at the “it’s a small world” attraction in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Recent observations include cracked wall sections, dark discoloration and grime on various surfaces, and heavily frayed decorative ropes. These issues have been noted in guest-facing areas near the loading area, exit, and the waterway.

While the deterioration is widespread, the documented issues do not establish that the ride is structurally unsafe or that the discoloration constitutes a biological health hazard such as mold. Walt Disney World has not announced any safety-related closures or major refurbishments in response to these findings. The current state of the attraction follows previous reports of peeling material, burned-out bulbs, and wear near the waterline.
