Unachi officials face dismissal in Panama; Argentine legislator defends selection process
In Panama, the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (Antai) has recommended the dismissal of 12 officials from the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi). The affected individuals include vice-rectors, deans, administrative staff, and teachers. Rector-elect Absel Navarro stated that his administration will respect the legal process and the right to appeal, noting that some of the recommended individuals are part of his newly presented leadership team.
In Argentina, provincial legislator María Victoria Vuoto defended the transparency of the competitive examination process used to select the head of the Defensoría de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes. Vuoto addressed criticisms regarding favoritism, describing the mechanism as unprecedented for a political position in the province. She highlighted the use of anonymized multiple-choice exams and random distribution of materials to ensure legitimacy and meritocracy, while criticizing colleague Natalia Gracianía for instigating doubts about the process.
