Magna Graecia Film Festival 2026 opens in Soverato
The 23rd edition of the Magna Graecia Film Festival runs from 25 July to 1 August 2026 in the coastal town of Soverato, Calabria. The opening night features Turkish actor Can Yaman, who will receive the festival’s Colonna d’Oro and take part in a moderated conversation. Former Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio headlines the sport‑focused segment, while Oscar‑winner Kevin Spacey is scheduled to present his film “Il prezzo di Hollywood”.
The festival, directed artistically by Gianvito Casadonte, continues its mission to promote emerging Italian and international filmmakers. A special emphasis is placed on women in cinema, with a programme that showcases female directors, writers and actors, and an ambassador role filled by rising star Fotinì Peluso. Radio 2 will broadcast live from the event, providing talk shows and interviews that link cinema with regional culture, gastronomy and innovation.
Among other notable guests are Valeria Golino, Marco D’Amore and Lino Banfi. The programme includes documentary and international sections curated by Antonio Capellupo and Silvia Bizio respectively, and a final film screening of Saverio Smeriglio’s “Lo chiamava Rock ‘N Roll”.
