Magna Graecia Film Festival Highlights Italian Cinema in Soverato
The 23rd edition of the Magna Graecia Film Festival concluded in Soverato, Calabria, drawing a large audience. Under artistic director Gianvito Casadonte, the festival continued its mission to discover and promote emerging Italian filmmakers alongside established international talent.
The competition awarded Alberto Palmiero’s documentary *Tienimi presente* as Best First‑and‑Second‑Work Italian Film. The Best Direction prize went to Margherita Spampinato for *Gioia Mia*. The event also featured a dedicated evening on women’s cinema, where actresses Irene Maiorino, Aurora Quattrocchi and Giulia Michelini shared personal experiences and discussed the role of female voices in the industry.
Ambassador actress Fotinì Peluso, hosts Carolina Di Domenico and Marco Maccarini, and jurors Renato De Maria, Marco D’Amore, Aurora Giovinazzo and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli were among the notable participants, underscoring the festival’s status as a key cultural gathering in Southern Italy.
